Portuguese citizenship without the maze

I am a Portuguese-Brazilian lawyer specialising in citizenship and immigration. I advise foreign nationals and investors establishing themselves in Portugal — from the first document to the final decision.

When a document is about belonging

Citizenship is not paperwork. It is the difference between living in a country and belonging to it — between renewing a permit every few years and simply staying. It means working without asking permission, studying on equal terms, moving freely across Europe, and knowing that those who come after you are born with the right already in hand.

I also know the other side: the certificate issued with an error, the appointment that never comes, the feeling of being far from home and dependent on a stamp. I have stood on both sides of that border. That is why I explain each stage in plain language, and say frankly what is possible and what is not.

How I can help

Three areas of work, one standard of care.

Citizenship & Visas

The document that confirms what you already are.

Portuguese citizenship applications and residence visas. This is where most clients begin — and where the law changed in 2026, both in the period required and in how it is counted.

Golden Visa & Business

Investing in Portugal with a clear legal route from day one.

Golden Visa, company incorporation, contracts and cross-border matters. Structured before the investment, not after it.

Family & Property

The life that continues once the visa is granted.

Family law and property matters. Buying a home, marrying, raising children abroad — each carries legal consequences worth understanding in advance.

About Caroline Campos

I am a Portuguese-Brazilian lawyer. I hold both of the nationalities most of my clients are working to bring together — which changes the conversation: I know the Portuguese system from the inside, and I understand the Brazilian one because it is where I come from.

My practice is citizenship and immigration: nationality applications, residence visas and the Golden Visa. It continues beyond that — contracts, family law, property, company incorporation — because life does not pause once the visa is granted.

Admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association under registration no. 57.397L and to the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB/RJ) under no. 165.646.

Why work with me

Immigration work sits where documents meet people's lives. These are the four things I aim to guarantee in every matter I take on.

Dual nationality

I know both sides because I am both sides.

Two time zones

Wherever you are based, the clock is not an obstacle.

A transparent process

You always know what stage your case is at.

Continuous support

From the first document to the final decision — and beyond it.

The law changed in May. The clock now starts elsewhere.

Portugal's new Nationality Law raised the residence period required and changed the date from which it begins to count. Applications already filed follow the previous rules. Finding out which side of that line you are on is a conversation, not a case.

Ask about your situation

How it works

Four stages, with no surprises along the way.

  1. First conversation

You tell me your situation. I tell you honestly whether there is a route, and what it is.

  2. Document review

I map what you have, what is missing, and where to obtain it.

  3. Filing

Submitted to the right authority, with everything it requires, in the form it requires.

  4. Follow-through to decision

I track the case, respond to any requests, and keep you informed.

Dr. Caroline is highly competent, attentive and deeply knowledgeable on Portuguese nationality and residence permits. She helped me convert my residence permit — originally a CPLP one, taken out in the heat of the moment and regretted almost instantly — into a conventional residence permit, in very little time. Thanks to her I am now moving on to the family reunification process. I can only thank her for the help and the commitment. I recommend her 100%!

Diego Belfort Teixeira da Silva Google review, translated from Portuguese

Caroline was essential in the process of obtaining Portuguese nationality. An excellent lawyer, who shows how important the support of a competent professional is in these matters. Tireless, always attentive, acting promptly whenever needed, with the knowledge of someone who is master of her craft.

Christian Jianelli Google review, translated from Portuguese

I have reached the end of my Portuguese residence process successfully, thanks to the help of Dr. Caroline and her whole team. The firm specialises in every nationality and immigration process for Portugal — and that is without mentioning the post-visa support, which includes help enrolling the children in school, family reunification and obtaining every Portuguese document. Highly recommended! Thank you for all the support!

Shall we begin?

Tell me your situation. The first conversation is there to establish whether a route exists — and what it is.
